Celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Autobiography, the mid 2000’s pop-rock princess ASHLEE SIMPSON releases the expanded edition today with a special celebration at Heart WeHo (8911 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069) tomorrow, Saturday, July 20th. Two vinyl variants (Interscope edition and Urban Outfitters edition) will be available on August 30th via Interscope Records/Ume.

“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since the release of Autobiography,” Simpson says excitedly. “It was such a beautiful time in my life and so much has changed in the best way! It is really fun to look back on this memory and celebrate.” Across the formats - digital deluxe and vinyl – the expanded edition features the original chart-topping album with a selection of Simpson’s bonus tracks, along with an ATMOS version of “Pieces Of Me.” Album highlights include previous singles “Pieces Of Me” (which reached a peak position of number five on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2004), “Shadow,” and “La La,” and includes the new bonus tracks “Harder Every Day” (featured on non-US pressings of Autobiography), “Sorry” (featured on the album’s United Kingdom edition), and “Endless Summer” (featured on the Japanese edition).

The chart-topping album was originally released on July 20, 2004 via Geffen Records and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart – selling roughly 398,000 copies the first week - and was certified triple platinum by the RIAA that September. Autobiography sold 2,576,945 copies over the six-month span of its release until early January 2005 and has since sold more than five million copies worldwide. The album reached number eight in Canada (went double platinum in February 2005); peaked at number 31 in the UK; peaked at 22 in Ireland, number 36 in Switzerlandand also reached number 29 in Norway. The album’s title track (“Autobiography”) also served as the theme song to MTV’s The Ashlee Simpson Show which aired in a pivotal era of reality TV (from 2004 to 2005) and documented the process of recording Autobiography.

Declared "an unexpectedly strong debut” by All Music Guide while People Magazine said Autobiography "showed Simpson was a "credible talent in her own right” and E! Online praised her ability to “piece together this collection of tracks that sound as if they were ripped right from the pages of her diary,” according to Nielsen SoundScan figures, the album was 2004's biggest debut album by a female artist and it was the ninth best-selling album of 2004. The album had so much hype a week before its release that when the album was featured on MTV.com's "The Leak” website, it brought in 2,660,000 pre-stream requests, breaking a record previously held by Britney Spears' 2003 album In the Zone
